1980 Unidentified Remains from Acline Road and Tamiami Trail
November 09, 2021

STATUS: OPEN
 

On February 12, 1980, skeletal remains were located in the bushes adjacent to the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad tracks in Charlotte County near Acline Road and US 41 (Tamiami Trail) by a bulldozer operator who was clearing trees along the railroad tracks. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and began the investigation. Two costume jewelry rings were also located, one size 6.5 silver spoon ring and one size 9 gold ring with a topaz stone.

In 2021, the CCSO Cold Case team requested the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Forensic Imaging team prepare an image of how the victim may have looked prior to her death.

The victim is believed to be African/Black or Latin/Hispanic female between the ages of 18-35, height estimated to be 5'7" – 5'8". Time of death could be anywhere from several months to several years prior to the discovery.

On May 8, 2008, the Fort Myers Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Marsh Avenue in Fort Myers where the victim, Torry Chrisp (21), and his friends were inside an apartment playing video games when two black male adults entered and began shooting. The victim ran outside and was chased by a vehicle and shot dead. All subjects were wearing masks. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

When they arrived they discovered a male deceased on the side of the road. Detectives arrived and conducted an investigation. The decedent was identified as John Richard Davis, a white male with a date of birth of October 12, 1964. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

On May 23, 2010, the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a shooting on the 2500 block of Henderson Avenue at 2:01 a.m. and found Joshua Lamont Jones, 27, suffering from a gunshot wound. Witnesses say someone fired shots into the home and then fled in a vehicle. Jones was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where he later died. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

On January 12, 2009, at approximately 9:18 p.m., the Fort Myers Police Department responded to the 3000 block of Royal Palm Avenue in Fort Myers in reference to shots fired. The victim, later identified as Kelly Kevin Grant, and others were inside the residence when a silver Lincoln sedan pulled in the driveway and two black male adults exited the vehicle and began firing into the residence. The suspects then fled on foot leaving the stolen vehicle behind. Detectives arrived and assumed the investigation. The investigation continues.
